TEAMWORK

We’ve all heard it, “teamwork makes the dream work”. The saying holds true in all aspects of life: sports, relationships, and within the workplace. Speedy Concrete Cutting is one large team broken down into four smaller teams: Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville. Within each location there are smaller teams that work collaboratively with one another. For example, at the operations level, there is an experienced operator and trainee team. The dispatchers work with operators to ensure productivity and safety. The accounting group works together to ensure our collections, payables, and receivables, are managed and to keep records of our assets. The HR dynamic duo is responsible for all employee benefits, onboarding, terminations, employee injuries, and even this newsletter. All teams collaborate to make the Speedy mission and vision come to life. Why is Teamwork Important? Teamwork is so important because simply put, one person cannot do it alone. The African Proverb states that “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. In other words, as a team we will succeed. Working together as a team helps to highlight strengths of teammates and highlight weakness that can be worked on offering opportunities for growth and development. Working as a team also allows you the opportunity to learn from one another. Teamwork fosters creativity by creating a comfortable environment to brainstorm and discuss topics that may inspire new ideas. Teamwork creates healthy competition and accountability. Overall, teamwork is efficient work. Tasks get completed faster when split up amongst a team and one person does not feel overwhelmed with the amount of work that needs to be completed. The Keys to Teamwork A key component of teamwork is communication. Communication is one of the most important aspects of teamwork. The problem: everyone communicates differently. Incorporating different communication styles is imperative to ensure that every voice is heard. Organization is also a key component of teamwork. It is crucial to create a timeline and goal-oriented tasks that have deadlines. Being adaptable is a critical characteristic of teamwork. Teammates need to be able to overcome obstacles and changes in priorities rather than getting frustrated and giving up. #teamwork #speedyconcretecutting #construction #values
