Hello from Ft. Lauderdale. We have started on an amazing, high profile project, called Miami Signature Bridge. This project was a design build concept with hundreds of bidders vying for the project. Miguel Chacon and I attended a meeting about 3-4 years ago for the concept and design scale description on this project and let me tell you, EVERY large bridge and roadwork contractor in the State and others, were in attendance. Fortunately for Speedy, Archer-Western & DeMoya Group, JV were the awarded contractors, both of whom Speedy has extensive and storied history with on many large-scale projects. This $800M project is not only the widening and reconstruction of the roadway span from west of I-95 (836) into the Eastern portion of 395, but also, an entire neighborhood revitalization project. There will be six arches designed on the bridge, as well as a “double-decker” highway. Speedy has secured the contract for ALL of the cutting on this project, which includes but, is not limited to, barrier wall, bridge deck, piles, bridge diaphragms, pile caps, drilled shafts and much, much more!! This project is scheduled for completion in 2023, so as you can imagine, Speedy will have substantial work on this project for the next several years. To date, we have had several Operators on site including, Tommy Flanagan, Johnny Avery, Kimroy Issacs, Matt Stepniak and Cameron Jeff. However, Tommy has been doing the majority of the work, and AWDM’s Lead Supt. Mike Miguel tells us Tommy is doing an incredible job for him so far and he is impressed with Speedy’s over-all knowledge, safety practices and ability to trouble-shoot issues when they arise! Mike says,” this makes his job much easier, when he knows that we can perform without him having to stand over our Operators and hold their hands.” All in all, incredible job by all the Operators who have been on this project, and for Estimator/PM Miguel Chacon, for meeting and exceeding our customer’s needs and expectations!! The Archer Western-de Moya Joint Venture team (AW-dMG team) is comprised of contractors Archer Western Contractors, LLC (AW) and The de Moya Group, Inc.
