Greetings from the Fort Lauderdale office! In this strange and socially distant time we are experiencing, I am pleasantly surprised to say that the Fort Lauderdale Office has had an amazing surge in work, mainly from road and bridge repairs. This comes from the Governor’s early release on projects in an effort to take advantage of the minimized traffic on the roadways, but also, in an effort to keep the economy stimulated as much as possible. This has benefitted us here in Fort Lauderdale immensely, with many projects going at the same time. We have continued our efforts on the Miami Signature Bridge Project, with Tommy Flanagan handling the bulk of this work, which includes slab sawing, curb sawing and wire sawing. The Miami Airport Tarmac Replacement Project has also released another 10,000 LF x 17” deep cutting. Operator, Matt Stepniak has been dutifully taking care of that work and is doing a fine job. We have also started the Cow Key Channel Bridge Deck Replacement Project in Key West, expected to run through August, and includes several mobilizations. We were recently contracted with Archer Western-DeMoya Group JV, at the I-595 Express Lane PH 3C Project, which is expected to run over the next 2.5 years. The project will kick into high gear shortly and we are ready. We also have a couple of large slab removal projects waiting for permits, which have taken a bit longer due to the local government offices working with skeleton crews. One of these projects is a 41,000 SF interior slab removal at the Publix Distribution Center in Deerfield Beach, that will begin in early May. At Speedy, we anticipate weathering this storm and hope to onboard some very good talent who may be looking for a future in our concrete sawing and drilling business. With all of these projects coming up we expect to be in good shape for the foreseeable future! If you are an experienced operator, all of our offices are hiring. Apply online at www.Speedycon.com/careers or call our offices for more info on how to apply. In closing, I would like to thank Courtney Williams, GM of our Jacksonville Office & John Gunther, GM/VP of our Longwood Office for having some of our South Florida Operators cover work for them in late February and early March. This not only helped our office here in Fort Lauderdale, but it also kept all of our Operators working and providing for their families those few weeks. It is greatly appreciated and one of the reasons why being part of the Speedy Family is a cut above the competition. Until next time, keep the blades spinning!!! #construction #concretecutting #soflo
